UFC Fight Night: Edwards vs. Muhammad gave us a comeback fight from Leon Edwards after almost two year without a fight ( last time, he won by unanimous decision win against Rafael dos Anjos on July 20th, 2019 ). His original opponent for this event was Khamzat Chimaev but he was still suffering effects of Covid-19 and he pulled out of the fight. Belal Muhammad stepped in and kept main event alive.
What a knockout by Matthew Semelsberger (now 2-0 in UFC) against Jason Witt (now 1-2 in UFC) after just 16 seconds of the fight.
Don't forget wins for JJ Aldrich, Nasrat Haqparast, Rani Yahya and Charles Jourdain, also on prelims.
Feautured bout of prelims between Ashley Yoder and Angela Hill gave us three round fight. Winner by unanimous decision was Angela Hill (now 8-9 in UFC) breaking her 2 loss skid while Yoder (now 3-6 in UFC) couldn't get her 2nd win in a row after last year unanimous decision win against Miranda Granger.
Very unfortunate way to start the main card. Bout between Eryk Anders and Darren Stewart was stopped due to illegal knee landed by Anders. It was not intentional, but Stewart wasn't able to continue the fight, therefore, fight was declared as a No Contest in round number one.
Matheus Nicolau come back with a win after almost three years from his last perfomance in UFC. Even though he had 3-1 in UFC back in 2018 after his loss against Ortiz, he was part of numerous fighters from flyweight division that was released in that period (end of 2018 until begining of 2019). Now, in his comeback fight, he won by split decision against former Rizin Bantamweight Champion, Manel Kape.
Davey Grant continue to rise in bantamweight division after his third consecutive win (2nd KO in a row), also improving his record in UFC to 4-3. He defeated Jonathan Martinez (Martinez now 4-3 in UFC).
Dan Ige came back after perfectly in winning column after unanimous decision loss from Calvin Kattar last year. Ige (now 7-2 in UFC) defeated Gavin Tucker (now 4-2 in UFC) via first round knockout.
Ryan Spann defeated Misha Cirkunov via TKO in round one and improved his record to 5-1 in UFC while Cirkunov fall to 6-4 in UFC.
In main event, after very dominant first round for Leon Edwards, we saw another unfortunate turn of events and a No Contest figth. At start of second round, Edwards accidentally eye poked Muhammad and he was unable to continue the fight, therefore, fight was declared a No Contest. Very unfortunate turn of events for Edwards, due to his long layoff, so we are going to see who will be his next opponent. Also, props to Belal Muhammad for stepping up and fight against one of the top welterweight in division right now.
