KSW 61 in Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland is first KSW event with fans in attendance since beginning of the whole Covid-19 pandemic. And for this special ocassion, KSW really offered very good night of fights.
Adam Niedzwiedz and Jakub Kamieniarz opened the card and gave us really interesting fight. After almost got finished in first round, Niedzwiedz bounce back and was able to secure submission victory in round two.
Damian Stasiak moving up in division was succesful against promotion newcomer from Ukraine, Andrey Lezhnev. Fight was after very well set-up for triangle choke and really huge win for Stasiak.
Ivan Erslan got yet another finish to his resume, after very impressive first round knockout win against Przemyslaw Mysiala. In only women's figth, Karolina Owczarz was better after three rounds and got unanimous decision victory over Monika Kucinic from Slovenia.
Roman Szymanski welcomed Donovan Desmae (fougth in another big European promotion, Cage Warriors) to KSW. Szymanski made sure that Desmae will not remember his promotional debut after unanimous decision win for Szymanski. First round was probably Desmae round, as he really made troubles for Szymanski but in second and third Szymanski was able to get takedown and control fight on ground which was enough for win.
Patrik Kincl continue his rise in KSW and agains impressed everyone with another knockout win. This time, 'victim' was Tomasz Romanowski who controlled the fight from start but takedown that was Kincl able to get in round two was crucial. After that, Kincl grinded his way to finish and win.
One of the Polish MMA legends, Michal Kita, fought against very motivated Serbian Darko Stosic, who accept this fight on short notice. However, even though Kita had pressure and forced Stosic to cover up and defend, Stosic was able to land one counterstrike that sends Kita to canvas. Stosic immediatelly going after and finish Kita with nasty ground and pound. After two impressive wins, Stosic called out in his post-fight interview a current KSW Heavyweight Champion, Phil de Fries. We will see if this is going to be next fight for heavyweight crown.
After loss from Daniel Torres at beginning of this year, also losing the belt, Salahdine Paranasse comes back with a bang and very good finish over one very tough fighter, Filip Pejic. After win like this, Parnasse showed that loss from Torres is in the past and he is ready to fight for the belt again. Don't forget, this was featherweight title eliminator fight.
In a main event fight, two legends of the sports and fighters who had success in helping KSW to become such a huge organization today, fought and gave they best to entertain the public. Mariusz Pudzianowski had dominant ground control over Lukasz Jurkowski and that ground control was key to success and eventually, finish in round three.
Very intensive and explosive night of fights in KSW and it was a huge attribution to whole event that fans was allowed to be in attendance. KSW 62 is also anounced for mid-July, and we will wait to see what new exciting fight KSW have to offer us.
